What is the most ideal exposure time? How do I prevent a sometimes greenish glow? What are those white balls in the henna powder? Find here your most frequently asked questions, and our answers.

Q: How long should I leave the henna for the best result?

A: We recommend to let the brow henna sit for 15 to 20 minutes, whether you work with Dyōtics Brow Henna or Supercilium. So the henna has enough time to develop, for a nice brown color. On very oily skins, a leave-in time of 25 to 30 minutes is recommended. Sometimes only 10 minutes are enough. Especially if someone has very light, almost white hairs. These hairs absorb the henna like a sponge, with a rather dark result. So be alert when working with these types of brows.

Q: What should I do at all times to achieve the best result?

A: There are many oily lotions and creams that can fade the henna shade. It is therefore important that the skin is thoroughly cleaned beforehand and that there is no oil or grease residue on the skin. Dyōtics Skin Prep Lotion is perfect to use for this. Moreover, sweat can make henna less long-lasting. And let your client know that it is important to keep the eyebrows dry for at least the first 24 hours. Cleaning products, scrubs and peelings are also not recommended as long as the color is on the skin.

Q: Brow henna and spray tan: a good combi?

A: No, definitely not. If there is spray tan in the skin cells, there is a good chance that it will throw a yellow or green glow on the skin around the eyebrows. Therefore, advise your client not to use spray tan at least for the last two weeks before the henna treatment. It is one shade or the other!

Q: What do you do if a customer has very oily skin?

A: When the skin is very oily, it is not wise to use eyebrow henna. Because it simply won’t last. Advise your client to choose for regular eyebrow dye, so that the hairs will at least be one shade darker.

Q: What if the color seems too light during the procedure?

A: Do not worry if the chosen shade seems to be too light for your client. You can apply another layer with a darker shade over the top straight away. The shades of Dyōtics and Supercilium can be mixed with each other at any time.

Q: How do you prevent a geen/yellow shade?

A: Skincare, moisturizers, sunscreen, and spray tans can affect the color. It takes a few days before these products leave the skin cells. And if they are still in the skin cells, they can cause a yellow or greenish glow. It is therefore important that you clean the skin as thoroughly as possible before the appointment. Furthermore you need to mix the henna with warm to hot water and wait 5-10 minutes before you start the procedure. To ensure that the henna is well developed and has a nice brown color. It is also important that you leave the henna for at least 15 minutes. If you remove it too fast, the color can have a somewhat greenish glow. Fortunately this always will disappear. By the time your customer is at home, her brows will have a beautiful brown color.

Q: What else has an impact on the color?

A: Water and sweat. So if your client is a huge fitgirl, discuss this in advance. Let her - and every customer in your salon - know that the brows should be kept dry for the first 24 hours after the treatment. Even after that time, it is important not to use any cleaning products, scrubs or peelings on the brow.

Q: What is the difference between Dyōtics and Supercilium Brow Henna?

A: In our webshop, you can order both Dyōtics Brow Henna and Supercilium Brow Henna. These two brands of eyebrow henna are both of high quality. The difference is that Dyōtics also has the extra dark shade Raven, and Supercilium the warm brow color Golden Brown. You mix Supercilium with Fixing Lotion, based on rosewater, while Dyotics has to be mixed with warm tap water.

Q: What are those white balls in the powder?

A: It can happen that there are some white balls in your jar of powder. This is gum to ensure that the henna binds with the water. For a better bond, mix the powder with hot water and let the paste stand for 5-10 minutes. Are the balls still not dissolved ? You can crush them with a microbrush. By the way, the beads will not effect the results.

Q: Why Does The Color Sometimes Fades So Quickly?

A: You can assume that the color lasts for 5 to 10 days on the skin, provided that your client takes good care of her eyebrows. However, there may be more reason why the color fades quickly:
- The skin was still moist from the cleansing lotion when you applied the henna
- You have applied the henna too thinly; all skin must be covered
- You have not properly pressed the henna into the skin
- The customer has very oily skin
- You only covered the brow hairs and didn't apply it well enough underneath the eyebrows
- The skin was not cleaned properly; there were still make-up or greasy remnants on it
- You didn't stick to the full exposure time, so the henna couldn't retract long enough
- The client has such dense eyebrows that it is difficult to cover all skin under the brows with henna
- The customer has used water or cleaned her brows within 12 hours after the treatment
- You have applied a too light shade to a dark skin
- The customer has almost no brow hairs, brow henna will only set in if there are hairs
